This may appear to be a romance song but it has lyrics that don't make sense unless you understand that this is really about the soul. The flower means the soul in many religions, especially in mystical societies and in Buddhism. The flower comes out of a plant in the dirt and in the case of the Lotus flower, it comes out of the mud and opens up to the Heavens. The flower appears when the plant is mature and this is a good metaphor for the soul. The soul emerges out of the mud of this world and opens up to Heaven and the light. The flower then gives birth to something new.

In the music video at 1 minute, 33 seconds, it has a piece of paper with Jacob Boehme on it. He was an alchemist and a mystic. His name is getting mentioned in this song for a good reason. This video shows some of his quotes represents this song perfectly.

This song is about alchemy. The bathroom scene first shows him looking into a mirror and the mirror represents spiritual reflection and the mirror requires illumination in order to be able to observe oneself, which is what is happening to him in this video. After he looks into the mirror he immerses himself into water and this represents purification and a baptism before he ascends into the Universe. At the end of this video the door opens letting in the light and there's an acorn on the stairs, the acorn was an important symbol in a lot of cultures. In the Nordic culture it represents life and immortality. It was important to the Druids as well. The final scene is about ascension to the afterlife. This video is about death and resurrection and this theme occurs in many other music videos and movies. The ADD in the context of this song means attention deficit disorder, but not in the normal way, it means in a higher way. The lyrics at the end of this video say, "Sail with me into the dark", this means sailing to the afterlife, the Pharaohs sailed into the sky when they died. The Khufu ship was found buried next to the Great Pyramid and it is connected to the Great Pyramid. In this music video there's an eye in the pyramid in one of the pictures and this song is called Sail.

The scene at the end of The Hunger Games, Catching Fire shows the same symbolism as the end of this music video.
